Power
Everybody at the point of attack blocks down toward the middle, and the backside guard pulls across to be the extra blocker in the hole. More blockers than defenders at one spot is the whole idea.

The look
The playside linemen block down, away from the hole, and the backside guard pulls behind them. The back takes a patient step so the guard gets there first, then follows him through.

The conflict
The edge defender holds his ground outside. The pulling guard kicks him out toward the sideline, and the back cuts inside the kick-out, straight up the hole the down blocks made.

The hole
Power does not trick anybody. It gets its yards by arriving at one gap with one more blocker than the defense has players there, and it is at its best when the defense knows it is coming and still cannot stop it.
Why it works
Angles beat strength
A down block hits a defender from the side, which is far easier than moving him head-on. Power is built out of angles.
A blocker the defense did not count
The pulling guard arrives from the other side of the line. Before the snap the defense was balanced; after it, one side is outnumbered.
It works when everyone knows it is coming
Third and one, the defense expecting a run, and power still works. That is its reputation, and it is earned.
How it gets run badly
The back outruns his guard
If the back reaches the hole first, he meets the defender the guard was coming for. One step of patience lets the lead blocker lead.
A pull that is too deep
The guard pulls tight to the line. Every yard of depth is time the defense gets to fill the hole before he arrives.
Nobody filling behind the puller
The pulling guard leaves a gap behind him. If nobody covers it, the backside defender runs free and makes the tackle from behind.
Who can run it
Tackle only. Power is a gap scheme and the pull is the play, and pulling needs a line to pull from. 11v11 runs it as drawn; 9v9 can with its three linemen, pulling one and losing a down block. There is no flag version, because the concept is contact.
