Share a play with your assistant coaches

Save the play, press Share, and send the link. It opens a read-only page that needs no account, and anyone you send it to can remix it into their own playbook.

Steps

  1. 1

    Save the play first

Share is disabled until a play is saved, because the link points at a stored play rather than at whatever is on your canvas. Saving is free and available on every plan.

  2. 2

Press Share and copy the link

You get a link of the form rc-football.com/p/<id>. The link is minted once and stays stable, so you can paste the same one into a group chat, an email and a team app.

  3. 3

    Send it

Whoever opens it sees the play drawn, read-only, with no account and no sign-in. It works on a phone, which is where an assistant coach will actually open it.

  4. 4

Share a whole set at once

Select several plays in your library and share them together. That mints one link of the form rc-football.com/s/<id> that renders all of them as a read-only playbook, and it also mints an individual link per play so each one is still shareable on its own.

What it costs

Free on every plan, including the free one. Sharing is not metered and the recipient needs no account. This is different from playbook export, which sends a whole playbook to Google Drive and is a paid feature.

Things worth knowing

  • A shared link is read-only. There is no edit-access mode: the recipient cannot change your play, and nothing they do affects your copy.
  • A recipient can remix the play, which clones it into their own account as a new play. Your original is untouched.
  • The link unfurls with the diagram in iMessage, Slack and most team apps, so a coach sees the play without opening anything.
  • Sharing a set mints per-play links as well as the set link, so you do not have to choose between the two.

Questions

Do my assistant coaches need an account to see a play I share?

No. A shared link opens a read-only page for anyone, with no account and no sign-in. They only need an account if they want to remix the play into a playbook of their own.

Can two coaches edit the same playbook?

Not today. Shared links are read-only plus remix, which means a coach can take a copy and work on it, but there is no shared editing of one playbook. If you need your staff working from one source, share the set link and treat your copy as the master.

Is sharing plays free?

Yes, on every plan. Sharing is not counted against any monthly limit.
